Thomas E. Pyles is an accomplished personal injury and criminal defense trial attorney with over 28 years of legal experience. He has a tremendous background in personal injury and criminal defense cases. He has tried over 200 jury trials and over 1000 bench trials. Attorney Pyles has handled complex civil and criminal litigation with outstanding client satisfaction and great professionalism. His reputation, both inside the courtroom and out, has allowed him to be one of the top litigators in the state of Maryland.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Mr. Pyles received his Juris Doctorate degree from the Washington College of Law at the American University in 1991. Prior to law school, he graduated from the University of Baltimore, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Criminal Justice.

One of Mr. Pyles’ first legal jobs was working as a law clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Felony I Division (murders, rapes and robberies). During the summer after his first year of law school, he worked with U.S. Attorneys who handled murder trials. Mr. Pyles was aligned with one of the top prosecutors with the U.S. Attorney’s office and helped respond and formulate both pre-trial and trial motions during the prosecution of these murder cases. Upon graduation, Mr. Pyles went to work for Richard A. Brown, senior and founding partner at Brown & McCormick and devoted his initial career to representing victims of personal injury cases as well as clients that found themselves facing the state in criminal prosecutions. During this time period, Mr. Pyles sharpened his litigation skills and began developing his reputation among judges, lawyers and clients as a top litigator. From there, Mr. Pyles started working at a Southern Maryland law firm where he continued to focus on personal injury and criminal defense. He also began to handle domestic relations and bankruptcy cases.

EXPERTISE & PASSION

In 2010, Mr. Pyles decided to open his own firm that primarily focused on personal injury and criminal defense cases. Today, Mr. Pyles has a sound general practice law firm with a strong emphasis on personal injury litigation, including car, truck and motorcycle accidents. Mr. Pyles continues to handle serious felony and misdemeanor cases in the state of Maryland.

Mr. Pyles founded his law firm on four principles: honesty, integrity, passion, and experience. He believes in an honest, straight-forward approach, giving you the straight talk and not candy-coating what the possible outcomes will be. He both thoroughly explains the process as well as what you will face given certain situations that may arise during the trial process. He believes in doing the right thing, at the right time, in the right manner. There is no substitute or short cut for doing things the right way. Past and present clients will tell you that he is very passionate about representing them and about the process that clients have to go through. His ultimate focus is taking care of his clients and making sure that the clients have a positive experience, which can only be accomplished through a positive outcome. Mr. Pyles is one of the few attorneys in the state that has over 200 jury trials under his belt. The number one factor in hiring an attorney would be how successful they have been in trying cases. Mr. Pyles firmly believes that, particularly when dealing with insurance companies and states attorney’s offices, if you are well known for trying cases, you have the upper hand in representing your clients. With that said, Mr. Pyles has few equals when it comes to personal injury or criminal defense trial experience.
